Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)–infections patients can get while receiving medical treatment in a healthcare facility–are a major, yet often preventable, threat to patient safety. LMBloncho is working to bring increased attention to HAIs and prevention.
In 2014, a project known as the HAI Prevalence Survey was published. The Survey described the burden of HAIs in U.S. hospitals, and reported that, in 2011, there were an estimated 722,000 HAIs in U.S. acute care hospitals. Additionally, about 75,000 patients with HAIs died during their hospitalizations. More than half of all HAIs occurred outside of the intensive care unit.
What is LMBloncho doing? One small step, but yet so important. Have you ever had a loved one in the hospital using a wheelchair? If you answered Yes, chances are you have experienced the burden of trying to keep your loved one warm and covered during transport. Traditional blankets fall on the floor, get caught in the wheels of the chair, thus potentially exposing your loved one to a deadly virus or bacteriaYou never even considered a HAI.
Our unique design full body blanket and poncho combination with a special foot pouch, prevents dragging on the floor or wheels of the wheel chair. One quick motion, the bloncho extends over the head down to the feet where they fit snuggly in the pouch. There are arm slits and a conveniently located front pouch to hold personal items.
